Hotels Accommodations
Participants will have to book the hotel themselves. From May to mid-August, American University Conference & Guest Services welcomes overnight conference and event guests to a diverse range of lodging options. You can check lodging availability here: https://www.american.edu/ocl/conferences/conference-lodging.cfm. However, on-site accommodations are not available during the academic year as the residence halls are used to house AU students. This link is a list of AU-affiliated hotels in the area that do offer discounts for guests visiting campus.

Transportation
American University is accessible from all three major airports located in the metropolitan area.

• Reagan National Airport, near downtown Washington, D.C., is accessible to the AU campus by Metro (subway) and taxi.
• Dulles International Airport is accessible by taxi, shuttle service, and a special shuttle connecting to Metro’s Orange Line.
• Baltimore/Washington International Airport is accessible by shuttle, Amtrak and MARC trains that run to Washington, D.C.’s Union Station.

Guests can then travel on Metro’s Red Line from Union Station to the Tenleytown/AU Metro Stop. American University is located less than a mile from the Tenleytown/American University Metro Station. Parking can be found on campus for $16.00 per car per day from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Parking passes can be purchased in advance at https://american.t2hosted.com/cmn/auth_ext.aspx.

By Metro
The closest Metrorail station is the Tenleytown-AU stop on the Red line. From the station, you can take the AU shuttle that is located on the corner of 40th St. NW and Ablemarle St. NW, in front of the Whole Foods.

By Bus
DC Metro Bus routes M4, N2, N4, and N6 stop at the AU main campus near the Katzen Arts Center and/or Ward Circle.

Driving directions to American University, Conference & Guest Services

From Baltimore and points northeast:
Follow I-95 South and exit onto I-495 West (Capital Beltway). Exit at River Road and turn right. Follow River Road until it ends at Wisconsin Avenue. Turn Right on Wisconsin Avenue and after a few blocks, turn right on Nebraska Avenue. Follow Nebraska Avenue past Ward Circle – this is a corner of American University. At the next light (Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues), to your immediate right there will be a parking garage entrance.

From Dulles International Airport and points west:
Follow I-495 North (Capital Beltway) across the Potomac River. Exit at River Road and turn right. Follow River Road until it ends at Wisconsin Avenue. Turn Right on Wisconsin Avenue and after a few blocks, turn right on Nebraska Avenue. Follow Nebraska Avenue past Ward Circle – this is a corner of American University. At the next light (Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues), to your immediate right there will be a parking garage entrance.

From Reagan National Airport and points south:
Follow the George Washington Memorial Parkway to I-395 North across the Potomac River. Exit onto 14th St. Follow 14th St northbound through the city center and turn left on Massachusetts Avenue NW. Follow Massachusetts Avenue for about five miles to Ward Circle – this is a corner of American University. From Ward Circle, go left on Nebraska Avenue. At the next light (Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues), to your immediate right there will be a parking garage entrance.
